Weave a Web
Lyrics & Melody by Polly Wood  ©2011

WEAVE A WEB

Weave a web, we weave it, dark browns and red.

I've been told the common folk will rise up like bread.

Rise up like bread.

Those who give their last breath get wings to fly.

Those who live by 'what if' are blind for a time.

Blind for a time.

(The heart can see in places we'd otherwise pass by.

All you love replaces what's lost when time flies.)

The wild in me remains this way against all odds.

Songs they come and beats they drum without applause.

Without applause.

What's the thing that's got you hooked?  What keeps you down?

I'm curious how you keep your feet on the ground.

Feet on the ground.

Weave a web, we weave it, dark browns and red.

I've been told the common folk will rise up like bread.

Rise up like bread.

What's the use in sugar, it only makes me sour.

The taste I crave is found, found in the hour

Of being with you.

Now I call you lover, I call you honey-pie.

If I said I wasn't scared, that would be a lie.

That would be a lie.

I'd like to think that I could wait for a thousand years.

But these days I can barely breathe through my fears.

Breathe through my fears.

Dropped it all, I let it go, finally I'm free.

And now that I've got nowhere, no place to be

You're not around.

Weave a web, we weave it.  Dark browns and red.

I've been told the common folk will rise up like bread.

Rise up like bread.
